Commissar Holt

Commissar Holt is the political officer who took Imperial ground command on Volistad, put a pistol in a planetary governor's face for forgetting the title, and then spent a Waaagh treating retreat as a shooting offence. Final Liberation made him a face. The Guard kept the type.

He arrived with a Lord Commander and Ultramarines to pull the world out from under Warboss Skroll. Buried Titans mattered. Holt's chain of command mattered more. He is not a novelist-commissar and not a Dawn of War extra. He is the poster: cap, sidearm, and the certainty that the Emperor's due is paid in other men's spines.

Volistad was the campaign. The method travelled. Later wars still produce Holts because the Astra Militarum still needs a man who will execute the sentence before he explains it.
