Cyrion

Cyrion is a Night Lords Space Marine and swordsman of First Claw, the warband led by Talos Valcoran aboard the strike cruiser Covenant of Blood.

He fought alongside Talos through the warband’s campaigns in the centuries following the Horus Heresy, prized among his battle-brothers for his speed with a blade and his dry, provoking humour. With Xarl, Uzas, the Apothecary Variel, and the human thrall Septimus, Cyrion took part in First Claw’s raids from their haunted refuge on the dead world of Tsagualsa, hunting rival Astartes, Eldar corsairs, and Imperial agents across the Eye of Terror; Mercutian, an earlier member of the squad, was lost in the warband’s first encounters along this path. Where Xarl answered every dispute with violence, Cyrion preferred needling and provocation, and he remained one of the few in First Claw willing to question Talos openly without triggering the killing reflex bred into the Legion by its primarch, Konrad Curze.

Cyrion represents a strand of Night Lords character distinct from the Legion’s reputation for indiscriminate terror: a disciplined killer who valued competence and camaraderie within his squad over random cruelty, and whose loyalty to Talos helped hold First Claw together through mutiny, daemonic corruption, and Imperial pursuit. He stands among the squad’s core contemporaries, Xarl, Uzas, Variel, and Septimus, under Talos Valcoran’s command; accounts of the warband’s later campaigns leave his ultimate fate unresolved.
