Eldrad Ulthran

Eldrad Ulthran is a farseer of Craftworld Ulthwé, counted among the most powerful and long-lived seers of the Aeldari race. A farseer is an Aeldari psyker who has walked the Path of the Seer, gaining the ability to perceive fragments of possible futures through the warp; among Ulthwé’s seer council, Eldrad is later tradition’s example of one who attained particularly great mastery of this art, in part through repeated bodily death and rebirth, his consciousness preserved and restored by means of a spirit stone.

Ulthwé occupies a position close to the Eye of Terror, the great warp rift associated with the Chaos powers, and its seer council is described as devoting itself more than any other craftworld’s to foreseeing and forestalling the catastrophe its farseers call the Rhana Dandra, a prophesied final reckoning between the Aeldari and the forces of Chaos. Accounts of Eldrad’s specific actions during the Horus Heresy, the galaxy-wide civil war that divided the Imperium of Man in this period, are not well established in accessible record; what can be said is that his unusually long life is held to span this era and much of the age that followed it, placing Ulthwé’s broader tradition of watching the unfolding human conflict for signs bearing on the Rhana Dandra within reach of his own lifetime.

In later Aeldari history, Eldrad Ulthran is remembered chiefly as a farseer whose plans are described as unfolding across centuries or millennia, and whose willingness to manipulate the fates of individuals and entire peoples toward ends he alone perceived became a defining trait attributed to him. His standing rests on this reputation for exceptional foresight and longevity rather than on a single documented act, and his presence is treated by later tradition as a thread connecting the crisis of the Horus Heresy to the far future of the 41st millennium.
