Luc Sedirae

Luc Sedirae was a captain of the Luna Wolves, later the Sons of Horus, who commanded the Thirteenth Company in the Great Crusade. He served in the XVI Legion under the primarch Horus during the late thirtieth millennium, and is recorded as one of the Legion’s company captains during the campaigns that preceded the Horus Heresy.

His most clearly attested appearance concerns the compliance of World Designate 63-19, known as Sixty-Three Nineteen. Before the Battle of the Whisperhead Mountains, Sedirae administered an Oath of Moment to Captain Garviel Loken of the Tenth Company, binding Loken to lead his warriors into the zone of war and to crush the insurgents there. The rite reflects the Legion’s custom of sworn pledges made before battle, and it places Sedirae among the senior captains trusted to witness such vows. Accounts of his wider campaign record are less complete, and later tradition holds that the Luna Wolves were renamed the Sons of Horus during the same era, carrying their captains, Sedirae among them, into the Legion’s new identity.

Sedirae’s significance is that of a well-placed Legion officer rather than a principal actor: he is a contemporary of Loken, Ezekyle Abaddon, Tarik Torgaddon and Horus Aximand, and his oath to Loken links him to the Battle of Sixty-Three Nineteen in the Great Crusade. His allegiance in the Heresy follows that of the Sons of Horus, whose role is set out in the accounts of the Horus Heresy and the Isstvan III atrocity. His final fate is not established in the material recorded here, and it is therefore treated as unknown.
