Lucoryphus

Lucoryphus is a Raptor of the Night Lords tradition and the Bleeding Eyes, recorded in the Black Legion warband of Iskandar Khayon. He is a Chaos Space Marine who fights with a jump pack as part of the assault formations that specialise in rapid, high-mobility strikes.

The Night Lords were the Legion of Konrad Curze, whose doctrine relied on fear, ambush and psychological attrition. Raptors, the jump-pack specialists of the Traitor Legions, suit that doctrine closely, since they strike from above, break the cohesion of the enemy line and spread terror ahead of the main assault. The Bleeding Eyes are associated with this Raptor tradition, and Lucoryphus is the figure most often linked to the name.

In the millennia after the Heresy, Lucoryphus is recorded as serving in the warband of Iskandar Khayon, a sorcerer-commander who operated within the wider Black Legion. There he commands a squad of Raptors that opens the warband’s assaults on behalf of Khayon and, through him, the purposes of Abaddon.
