Malcharion

Malcharion is a Night Lords Heretic Astartes recorded for killing Vraal, an Atramentar bodyguard of the warband leader known as the Exalted. He belongs to the Traitor Legion’s fragmented, post-Heresy period, and the surviving record of him is narrow: his rank, origin and personal history are not firmly established.

The Night Lords (the VIII Legion) were raised by the Primarch Konrad Curze and drew their early recruits from Nostramo. Their elite First Company, the Atramentar, fought in Terminator armour under First Captain Jago Sevatarion. After Curze’s death on Tsagualsa, the Legion broke into independent warbands, and surviving Atramentar commonly served as bodyguards to the Chaos Lords who led them. Vraal is recorded as one such bodyguard to the Exalted, and his service ended when Malcharion killed him. Accounts differ on the wider circumstances, and this entry does not assign Malcharion a warband, command or motive beyond that attested act.

Malcharion’s standing is that of a minor but traceable figure in the Night Lords’ later history, where personal rivalries between warband leaders and their household guards shaped the Legion’s fragmented politics. His contemporaries include the Exalted and the Atramentar Abraxis, Garadon and Malek, who are recorded as serving the Exalted. His fate is unrecorded here, and his map anchors are widely scattered, since Night Lords warbands operated across many regions of the galaxy rather than from a fixed seat.
