Nathun Inshabel

Nathun Inshabel is an Imperial Inquisition interrogator who later rose to Inquisitor within the Ordos Helican. He is recorded as a subordinate operative attached to the retinue of Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn, holding the rank of interrogator, a formal grade within the Inquisition denoting an aide and investigator still under the tutelage of a full Inquisitor.

During his service to Eisenhorn, Inshabel is described as taking part in the sustained campaign of investigation and pursuit that occupied Eisenhorn’s retinue across the Helican sub-sector and beyond, a period in which the retinue confronted heretical conspiracies and proscribed xenos and warp-derived threats. Accounts of the period identify him as one of a small number of interrogators and specialists who worked alongside Eisenhorn over an extended span, and later tradition holds that his service was judged sufficient for him to be raised to the full rank of Inquisitor in his own right, continuing to operate within the Ordos of the Helican sub-sector.

Inshabel’s standing rests chiefly on his association with Eisenhorn’s retinue and on his subsequent independent career as an Inquisitor of the Helican Ordos. His case is treated as illustrative of the customary progression within the Inquisition, whereby an interrogator of demonstrated competence and loyalty may, after protracted service under a senior Inquisitor, be elevated to full inquisitorial authority.
