Pech

Pech is recorded as an Iterator attached to the Great Crusade, one of the orator-officials charged with propagating the Imperial Truth. Iterators formed a distinct corps within the expeditionary fleets of the Great Crusade, tasked with explaining and justifying the Imperium’s rationalist, anti-religious doctrine to newly compliant worlds and to the crusading forces themselves. Their work was considered complementary to that of the Remembrancer Order, though iterators were older in institution and more directly bound to the ideological programme of the Emperor’s unification of humanity.

Accounts of Pech’s career are sparse, and the surviving record places the individual within the wider body of iterators who served under senior colleagues such as Kyril Sindermann during the era of the Sixty-Third Expedition. As with other members of this college, Pech’s duties are understood to have included public oratory, the compilation of compliance records, and the framing of newly conquered territories’ history in terms consistent with the Imperial Truth. No independent command or notable expedition is attributed to Pech in the accounts that survive.

Pech’s standing rests on membership of the Iterator institution rather than on any individually distinguished action. As such, the figure is significant chiefly as an illustration of the ideological apparatus that accompanied the Great Crusade’s military expansion, rather than as a subject of extensive independent record.
