Sir Hekhtur

Sir Hekhtur Cerberan is a Freeblade who pilots Canis Rex and is the last loyal Knight of House Cerberan. Freeblades are Knight pilots who operate independently of a noble household. Hekhtur carries a gauntlet named Freedom’s Hand.

The Iron Warriors captured the world of Randoryn Alpha and attempted to recondition its Knightly nobles into treachery. Hekhtur was held prisoner in chains. Canis Rex awoke of its own accord and broke his restraints, and he became a Chainbreaker. He then evacuated serfs from the planet, seized a frigate, and has since sought out wars in which he can still secure victory for the Imperium. Randoryn Alpha is lost, and Hekhtur does not intend to sacrifice himself in a further contest over it.

House Cerberan no longer exists as a fighting house, but Hekhtur survives. His continued service, without a house and after its destruction, illustrates the Freeblade principle of a Knight pilot fighting on for the Imperium alone.
