Solomon Voss

Solomon Voss was a remembrancer of the Remembrancer Order, attached to a Space Marine Legion expedition in the years preceding the Horus Heresy. The Order was instituted by the Emperor of Mankind to embed civilian artists, writers, historians, and other chroniclers within the Great Crusade’s expeditionary fleets, so that the unification of humanity’s scattered worlds might be recorded for posterity.

Accounts of Voss’s specific attachment and output are not well documented, and it is not established which fleet or commander he travelled with, nor what form his chronicling took. Like other remembrancers of the period, his position placed him among the military and logistical apparatus of a Legion expedition rather than within its command structure, and his standing depended on the goodwill of the officers who tolerated the Order’s presence. The wider Remembrancer Order came under increasing strain as the Great Crusade drew to its close and divisions within the Legions sharpened, a tension that culminated in the outbreak of the Horus Heresy.

Voss’s individual significance rests chiefly on his membership of a body whose collective testimony shaped later understanding of the Great Crusade’s final years. No further record of his activities, fate, or standing after the Heresy’s outbreak is reliably attested.
