Zhufor

Zhufor, known as the Impaler, is a Chaos Lord of the World Eaters, one of the Khorne-sworn Traitor Legion’s warband commanders active in the present era.

He leads his own retinue within the wider host of the World Eaters, riding to battle mounted upon a daemonic juggernaut of Khorne and dispatching foes by the method that gave him his byname. Unlike Khârn the Betrayer, whose infamy stems from a singular act of slaughter aboard a warship during the Horus Heresy, Zhufor’s reputation is recorded as having been built across centuries of unbroken warfare fought in Angron’s name, his warband answering the primarch-turned-daemon’s call wherever the promise of slaughter is greatest. Accounts of his campaigns are fragmentary, consistent chiefly in describing a commander who measures standing among the World Eaters by skulls taken rather than territory held, a currency that keeps him in the favour of Khorne even as rivals within the Legion vie for the same glory.

Zhufor’s present-day activity is bound to the World Eaters’ resurgence following the opening of the Great Rift, when Angron’s Legion surged back into Imperial space alongside the wider forces of Chaos. Within that period he stands as a contemporary of Khârn the Betrayer and the other lords who command the Legion’s scattered warbands, an unascended mortal still fighting the same long war that consumed his primarch, his fate as unresolved as the war he serves.
