Battle of Corusil V

The Battle of Corusil V was fought in the Yasan Sector in 084.M31, during the Great Scouring that followed the Horus Heresy, between White Scars forces under their primarch Jaghatai Khan and Drukhari raiders who had ravaged Chogoris and the wider sector after the Siege of Terra. Second Founding successor Chapters of the Fifth Legion — among them the Destroyers, Rampagers and Storm Lords — are recorded as fighting alongside the White Scars. The engagement belongs to the Khan’s post-Heresy campaigns of pursuit, after he had spoken at the Grand Council of Reconstruction for immediate hunting of the Imperium’s enemies rather than delayed consolidation. On Corusil V the Drukhari were defeated in open battle, but their archon broke contact and fled into the webway. Jaghatai led much of the White Scars’ First Brotherhood through the portal in pursuit. The gateway closed behind them. No confirmed Imperial account records the Great Khan’s return from that labyrinth. White Scars tradition declines to treat the disappearance as death, holding instead that he continues the hunt; Chogoris raises successive generations of the Chapter in his name and watches the webway’s threshold for his coming back. The battle therefore stands both as a Scouring victory over xenos raiders in the Yasan Sector and as the last firmly placed action of the primarch of the White Scars. Later references in Chapter histories and successor chronicles repeat the same outline — victory on Corusil V, pursuit into the webway, sealed portal, unresolved fate — without adding a later sighting that the wider Imperium accepts as certain. Accounts differ only in emphasis, some stressing vengeance for Chogoris, others the suddenness with which the ordu lost its Khagan.
