Battle of the Corollis Star

The Battle of the Corollis Star was a naval engagement of the Great Crusade in which the Emperor’s Children, under their primarch Fulgrim, and the Iron Hands defeated the Diasporex, a nomadic confederation of humans and aliens that had travelled interstellar space since the Age of Strife. The Diasporex were a technologically advanced and democratic civilisation; when the Iron Hands offered their human members the chance to leave their alien allies and join the Imperium, they declined. Over subsequent months the Iron Hands fleet failed to destroy the Diasporex, who evaded battle and damaged an Iron Hands cruiser. Fulgrim’s Legion was then called in as reinforcement. The Emperor’s Children found that the Diasporex harvested fuel from a star through hidden space stations, which bound them to the region. By attacking those stations, the Legion fleets drew the Diasporex into open battle at the Corollis Star, where they were defeated. In a brief boarding action Solomon Demeter of the Emperor’s Children seized the Diasporex flagship ahead of Fulgrim, taking the glory of its capture from the primarch. After the battle the surviving aliens were killed; the human members were taken prisoner and transported to the nearest compliant Imperial world as slave labour. A detachment of the Adeptus Mechanicus from the 28th Expedition Fleet remained to study the remains of the Diasporex’s ancient human technology.
