Devastation of El’Phanor

The Fourth Black Crusade, also known as the Devastation of El’Phanor and the Death of the Kromarch, began in 001.M34. Abaddon besieged Cadia while taking the bulk of his forces into the Segmentum Obscurus, and he led the attack on the Grand Citadel of the Kromarch on El’Phanor in person. Drach’nyen broke the gates of the citadel, and inside it Abaddon ended the Kromarch’s line and destroyed an ancient monolith housed there. His troops then sacked the city. He was also recorded as bombarding Eriad VI during this crusade, in order to destroy Necron pylons on that world. Imperial forces afterward cleared the Chaos host from El’Phanor, and few of Abaddon’s troops escaped to the Eye of Terror. One record described this as a Chaos retreat, holding nonetheless that the Black Legion’s objective had still been achieved. Both versions were recorded, and neither was given precedence over the other.
