Gehöft Incursion

The Gehöft Incursion was a battle on the Imperial agri-world of Gehöft between Imperial forces and the Blighted Claw, a Chaos warband devoted to Nurgle, which ended in the loss of the planet and its destruction by Exterminatus. It took place in the forty-first millennium. The warband’s leader, the Plague Lord Paramyx, had been Chapter Master of the Sanctors before that Chapter fell to Chaos during the Abyssal Crusade, and Gehöft was the latest of many Imperial worlds on which the Blighted Claw had spread plague. The disease destroyed crops and livestock, killed much of the population and raised the dead as plague zombies, and the world was close to being overrun within months of the invasion. The Astra Militarum’s Brindelweld Seventeenth regiment and the Ravenwing of the Dark Angels, under its Master Sammael, came to Gehöft’s defence, together with the White Scars 3rd Brotherhood under Kor’sarro Khan, Master of the Hunt. Kor’sarro judged the world already lost and sought instead to conclude a Great Hunt against Paramyx, a pursuit that had taken him across half a Segmentum. While the armies fought, Kor’sarro led a squadron of attack bikes after the Plague Lord, with Sammael’s Ravenwing squadrons in support. As they neared Paramyx, the White Scars were ambushed by a large number of Blight Drones. Sammael’s squadron had left the pursuit after sighting the battle flag of Skethon, one of the Fallen, the Dark Angels who turned traitor, on a nearby war engine, and the White Scars fought on alone until Kor’sarro was the only survivor of his squadron. He was forced to withdraw, and Paramyx escaped. The Imperial forces were routed, the evacuation of Gehöft was ordered, and the world was subjected to Exterminatus; Skethon also escaped the Ravenwing.
