Invasion of Salandraxis

The Invasion of Salandraxis was an assault by Chaos forces on the Imperial shrine world of Salandraxis during Abaddon the Despoiler’s Thirteenth Black Crusade, at the close of the 41st millennium; no narrower year, sector, or coordinates are recorded. Salandraxis was the seat of the throne of the Living Saint Lozepath, and its cardinal, Astral Pradillo, saw the Saint return there for the first time in many years. Chapter Master Solucious Gaul of the Angels Eradicant had committed his fleet to guarding the Saint’s journey, and the world’s defenders prepared to hold Salandraxis for him. Khârn the Betrayer, who had been promised a trophy on Salandraxis by Khorne, came with an enlarged warband. Captain Talomar Locq of the Hounds of Abaddon, ordered to bring Khârn before Abaddon, had destroyed an Angels Eradicant fleet that attacked Khârn’s ship, the Skulltaker, and for a time held Khârn under his control, but a Chaos fleet then emerged from the warp above the world. After a heavy orbital invasion Khârn’s warband spread across the capital and the forces of Khorne filled the shrine city, taking skulls by the thousand. Locq led his warriors into the fighting, killing without discrimination, and resolved to break his oath and take Khârn’s skull for himself. In the High Temple of the Emperor, Khârn confronted Lozepath. Abaddon then descended to the planet to parley with him. The outcome of the meeting and the fate of the Saint are not recorded.
