Psychic Awakening

Psychic Awakening is a twelve-part campaign series recording the galaxy-wide fallout from the Great Rift’s opening late in the 41st millennium. Where Gathering Storm records the Cicatrix Maledictum tearing open at Cadia, Psychic Awakening follows its consequences outward: a tide of amplified warp activity that woke sleeping powers, hardened old feuds, and forced factions across the Imperium Sanctus and the Imperium Nihilus into open conflict. The series is coordinated from Terra, where Roboute Guilliman, newly risen and acting as Lord Commander of the Imperium, directs the Indomitus Crusade and weighs reports of uprisings, hauntings, and returning powers arriving from every quarter of the fractured Imperium. Each instalment isolates a theatre reshaped by the Rift’s psychic pressure. Faith and Fury records the Adepta Sororitas and Adeptus Custodes putting down Slaaneshi rebellion on Ophelia VII; Ritual of the Damned follows the haunting of a Death Guard-corrupted Imperial Navy vessel; Phoenix Rising and Blood of Baal trace, respectively, the Aeldari struggle to check Slaanesh’s hunger and the Blood Angels’ defence of their home world against a Tyranid hive fleet drawn by the dormant psychic call of the primarch Sanguinius. Saga of the Beast recounts the Ork prophet Zappgit Nailbrain’s WAAAGH! against the Necrons of Zharrduk’s dynasty, while Pariah and Nemesis turn to the Officio Assassinorum and the Adeptus Custodes as they confront the return of the C’tan Deceiver and the enigmatic Pariah Nexus. Engine War, Charge of the Renegades, Plague Wars, and Gate of Bones extend the pattern to the Adeptus Mechanicus, Aeldari raiders, the Death Guard’s renewed plague fleets, and the Necrons of the Imperium Nihilus reawakening in force. Taken together, the campaigns mark the moment the setting’s long-static 41st-millennium status quo gave way to open, dated change: the Ynnari’s rise among the Aeldari, the Necrons’ resurgence as a galaxy-spanning threat, and Guilliman’s Terra-directed crusade all harden into the baseline for the era that follows. Psychic Awakening does not resolve into a single victory; its closing volumes leave the Imperium still contesting a galaxy whose geography and loyalties the Rift continues to redraw, with Terra remaining the fixed point from which Guilliman and the High Lords direct the Imperium’s response.
