Ravaging of Ultramar

The Ravaging of Ultramar was a raid on the borders of Ultramar in 878.M41 by the daemon prince M’kar, once a Word Bearer who had fought at the Battle of Calth during the Horus Heresy, at the head of a force of Chaos pirates that claimed several uninhabited worlds on those borders. No world is recorded for the decisive engagement. Captain Cato Sicarius of the Ultramarines confronted M’kar in the Halamar Rift, also spelled Helamar. In a great void battle the strike cruiser Valin’s Revenge destroyed most of the Chaos fleet, and Sicarius fought aboard the main Chaos vessel, but he failed to kill M’kar, who escaped through the Warp to the Eye of Terror and later returned to trouble Ultramar.
