The complex, raised in a past age by a vanished species and long fallen silent, had been seized by forces loyal to the Archon Anakwanar Sek, a subordinate of the Archenemy Warmaster Urlock Gaur, who used its shielded vaults to develop and store proscribed bio-alchemical weaponry intended for use against Crusade worlds. Imperial intelligence judged the site too dangerous to leave for a conventional siege, and Crusade command sanctioned a small, deniable strike rather than a full fleet action. The mission fell to a modest Imperial Guard formation, the Tanith First-and-Only supported by naval and specialist elements, who translated into the Erinyes Group aboard a concealed carrier and infiltrated the stronghold’s outer defences before its garrison could organise a response. Fighting moved through the complex’s tiered vaults and reactor levels, cutting the raiders off from immediate support and forcing them to rely on stealth and close-quarters action against Blood Pact troops and allied Archenemy forces holding the interior.
