Siege of Somonor
The Siege of Somonor was fought in 798.M41 on the Necron tomb world of Somonor in the Vidar Sector, when Farseer Starbane of Craftworld Alaitoc led a war host against the tomb of Overlord Szaron. Starbane expected a newly woken and disordered Necron force; instead Phaeron Imotekh the Stormlord of the Sautekh Dynasty was already on the world to secure Szaron’s allegiance, and Szaron pledged the tomb to the Sautekh so that the Necrons would stand together against the Eldar. Starbane attacked before the rest of his host arrived. Imotekh countered each Eldar advance, teleported a Monolith into the fighting, and used Deathmarks and Heavy Destroyers to deny the Eldar their mobility. When the main war host mustered and Imotekh could not hold against a fresh wave, he summoned a storm to cover a withdrawal into the tombs. Starbane pursued into the sealed vaults, where microscopic scarabs, Flayed Ones and Immortals destroyed the trapped Eldar. Only Starbane survived; Imotekh took his right hand and released him to live with the defeat. In the aftermath the Seer Council of Alaitoc planned revenge against the heart of the Sautekh Dynasty. Somonor remained in Sautekh hands.
