War of Rust and Ruin
The War of Rust and Ruin was fought on Dysactis after the opening of the Great Rift; no precise year is recorded. Mortarion led the Death Guard to take the world’s Temple of Ascension. Perturabo arrived with the Iron Warriors and the Chaos Titans of the Legio Abhorrax, and both sides summoned daemons to their cause. Death Guard contagions and metaliphage poxes rusted Perturabo’s war engines, and Perturabo withdrew. Mortarion’s force then took the temple.
