Avalorn

Avalorn is a world in Segmentum Pacificus brought to compliance during the Great Crusade by the Alpha Legion and the Imperial Fists acting jointly. Compliance was the process by which the Imperium of Man brought a settled world under its authority. The entry corresponds to the Avalorn named in the book Extermination, and its map position on 40k Orrery is unconfirmed.

The campaign was almost complete when senior officers of the two Legions became involved in an affair of honour at the Fortress of Jakalla. Both sides treated the matter as more pressing than the final defences that remained. The Emperor intervened in person to halt a duel between them, so that loyal Space Marines would not shed one another’s blood once the compliance was effectively finished.

Avalorn is remembered chiefly as a named joint operation of the Alpha Legion and the Imperial Fists. Published maps place it only vaguely, and unofficial summaries keep it within Segmentum Pacificus. 40k Orrery retains that parent segmentum and does not reassign the world to the Sabbat Worlds, since no source in the record supports such a placement.
