Belladon

Belladon is a planet of the Sabbat Worlds, attested chiefly as a source-world for Astra Militarum forces in Imperial fiction. It is best known as the homeworld from which the Belladon regiments of the Imperial Guard were raised, forces that saw service during the protracted campaigns of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

Within Dan Abnett’s Gaunt’s Ghosts sequence, Belladon-raised troops and refugees from the world figure among the human population caught up in the crusade’s upheavals, their fate intertwined with that of other Sabbat Worlds forces, including the Tanith First-and-Only under Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt. The world’s own martial tradition is presented as one of disciplined infantry and armoured formations typical of the many Guard-raising worlds drawn into the Crusade’s manpower demands.

As with many Sabbat Worlds planets known principally through this body of fiction, Belladon’s broader history, geography, and eventual status following the crusade are not comprehensively documented, and its significance rests largely on its association with named regiments and personnel who appear in the wider narrative of the Sabbat Worlds campaign.
