Volpone barracks

The Volpone barracks were garrison quarters for the Volpone Bluebloods during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, as depicted in Dan Abnett’s Gaunt’s Ghosts novels. The facility served as a base of quartering, drilling, and administration for personnel of the Volpone regiments while attached to Crusade forces, functioning as a station rather than a permanent settlement in its own right.

The Volpone Bluebloods, formally the Volpone 50th and 51st regiments, were Imperial Guard formations drawn from the aristocratic hive world of Volpone, noted for their exacting discipline, ornate ceremonial bearing, and comparatively lavish provisioning relative to line infantry regiments. Their barracks reflected this regimental character, and scenes set within or around such quarters in the Gaunt’s Ghosts novels frequently underscore the social and disciplinary friction between the Bluebloods and less privileged formations, notably the Tanith First-and-Only.

As a subordinate facility rather than a fixed settlement, the barracks is not independently mapped within the Sabbat Worlds and is understood chiefly through its narrative role as a staging and quartering point for the Volpone Bluebloods during the Crusade. No further administrative or strategic detail beyond this regimental association is reliably attested.
