Cyclopean mountains of Jago

The Cyclopean mountains of Jago are a mountain range on the world of Jago, within the Sabbat Worlds, noted for their imposing, fortress-like scale. The range takes its name from the massive, almost artificial-seeming regularity of its peaks and escarpments, which lend the terrain an air of ancient, megalithic construction despite being a natural formation. As with much of Jago’s topography, the mountains are counted among the more forbidding features of a world otherwise regarded as a marginal holding within the Sabbat Worlds theatre of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.

The range’s scale and broken ground make it naturally defensible, offering commanding lines of sight over the approaches below and few viable routes for a large force to force a passage. Such qualities have made the mountains a point of tactical interest to garrison and Guard formations stationed on Jago, where control of the high ground has historically shaped the disposition of defensive lines against incursion.

The Cyclopean mountains are attested in the Gaunt’s Ghosts chronicles, which record the Tanith First-and-Only’s association with Jago during the world’s garrison operations. The range is remembered chiefly as a backdrop to the regiment’s service there rather than as a site of galaxy-spanning renown, reflecting Jago’s broader status as a peripheral world within the Sabbat Worlds campaign.
