Gorgon Quintus

Gorgon Quintus is a death world in the Deluvian Sub-sector of the Orpheus Sector, used as an Imperial Guard muster point and later as a castrum. A castrum is a fortified military base. Battlefleet Orpheus fell back to the world after the death of Amarah. It forms part of the gorgon-quintus-system and is distinct from the forge world Gorgonum.

Imperial Armour lists Gorgon Quintus as a death world with a Guard station. After the Orphean Decree abandoned the sector, the surviving line ships of Battlefleet Orpheus gathered there. From this position they directed the Salvation Campaign and maintained the Exterminatus cordon. The world served as a mustering point for these operations and did not function as the seat of a hive government.

Gorgon Quintus retains its standing as the fallback position of the Orphean forces. It should not be confused with Gorgonum, the forge world north of the Maelstrom. Nor does it share the setting of the capital war on Amarah Prime, which is a separate theatre of the same collapse.
