Gorgonum

Gorgonum is an Imperial forge world plotted north of the Maelstrom and filed under Ultima, distinct from the death world Gorgon Quintus. Its published dossier draws on two sources: a White Dwarf battleground and a Space Hulk: Tactics crisis. It should not be confused with Gorgon Quintus, the death world associated with Orpheus.

The Ultramarines once fought Necrons among the forge world’s purgamentorums. At a later date the space hulk Forsaken Doom drifted into the system carrying genestealers. The Blood Angels boarded the hulk in an attempt to break it open before the forge was lost. Confidence in the world’s placement on this map is low. The Ultima parent is therefore retained, although some charts locate Gorgonum closer to the Maelstrom.

Gorgonum remains of interest as a named forge world that is neither Gorgon Quintus nor a hive world of the Calixis sector. Unofficial summaries keep the Ultima parent and decline to identify the world with its Orpheus namesake.
