Iron Blood

Iron Blood is the flagship of the Iron Warriors Legion, serving as the principal command vessel of Perturabo during the Horus Heresy. As the primarch’s own ship, it functioned as the nerve centre of Legion strategy, from which Perturabo directed the Iron Warriors’ campaigns following their commitment to the cause of Warmaster Horus.

The vessel is described as a Gloriana-class battleship, a hull type reserved in the main for the flagships of the primarchs and their Legions. Such vessels were amongst the mightiest warships fielded by the Space Marine Legions of the era, combining immense armament and armour with the capacity to serve as mobile fortresses and command centres for protracted campaigns of conquest.

Consistent with the Iron Warriors’ character as a Legion steeped in the doctrines of siegecraft and fortification, Iron Blood is held to reflect that martial temperament in its construction and bearing, standing as a symbol of the Legion’s methodical and unrelenting approach to war. Its subsequent fate beyond the Horus Heresy is not clearly established.
