Jouran

Jouran is a civilised capital world whose noble houses send their first-born into the Planetary Defence Force and value Imperial Guard commissions. Those houses treat a Guard commission with the weight of family scripture and record such service in a hall of heroes.

The world’s best-known tithe, or levy of troops, is the Jouran Dragoons. This regiment is made up of Chimera-borne mechanised infantry, who advance through the gaps that tank regiments open in an enemy line. Jouran’s sister worlds support this military tradition. The hot industrial world of Jouran III builds the vehicle hulls and supplies most of the troopers. The agri-world of Jouran V serves as a carnosaur park for the same aristocratic houses.

The Jouran system therefore divides its functions among several worlds: the capital provides the officer tradition and the noble houses, Jouran III provides industry and manpower, and Jouran V provides the aristocracy’s leisure grounds. The Dragoons are the system’s principal contribution to the Imperial Guard. The system’s segmentum, one of the major administrative divisions of the Imperium, is not recorded consistently. One reference places it in Segmentum Pacificus, while another leaves the segmentum unstated.
