Legio Tempestus

Legio Tempestus is a Titan Legion of the Adeptus Mechanicus, one of the armoured god-engine forces raised from the forge world of Mars. Its war engines — Warhounds, Reavers, and towering Warlords — are crewed by princeps and moderati bound to their machines through neural link and lifelong ritual, and its warriors march to battle in green and gold livery marked with jagged storm-tooth chevrons. As with all Titan Legions, Tempestus answers to the Fabricator-General and the wider Adeptus Mechanicus, deploying alongside Skitarii legions and the Imperial armies it is sent to support.

During the Horus Heresy, Legio Tempestus held to its oaths to the Emperor while the Titan Legions of Mars fractured between loyalist and traitor causes. It is recorded among the loyalist engines committed to the Beta-Garmon system, where the Warmaster’s armies sought to break the Imperium’s last defensive line before Terra. There, in the grinding god-engine battles of the Shadow Crusade, Tempestus’s war machines clashed with the traitor Legio Mortis, the Death’s Heads of Death Guard allegiance, in engagements later remembered as among the most costly Titan-on-Titan fighting of the civil war. The Legion’s survival through that campaign marked it as one of the forces that helped deny Horus an unopposed path to Terra.

In the present era, Legio Tempestus continues to serve the Imperium as one of the Mechanicus’s standing Titan forces, answering the Fabricator-General’s call wherever a warzone demands the presence of god-engines. It fights alongside the Astra Militarum and Skitarii maniples of allied forge worlds, and stands as a contemporary of the other Titan Legions of Mars, from the loyalist Legio Gryphonicus to the traitor Legio Mortis it faced at Beta-Garmon. Accounts of its later campaigns beyond the Heresy remain comparatively sparse, but its record as a Legion that held its oaths through the Imperium’s darkest civil war continues to define its place among the god-machines of Mars.
