The Menazoid Epsilon dig sites are a network of excavation trenches and tunnel workings on Menazoid Epsilon, fought over during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. Originally cut for archaeological or resource-extraction purposes, the diggings were subsequently contested as a defensive and infiltration network during Imperial operations to secure the world, their close confines and buried galleries lending themselves to protracted, close-quarters fighting rather than open manoeuvre.

The dig sites are best attested as the setting of the framing narrative in Dan Abnett’s novel Ghostmaker, in which soldiers of the Tanith First-and-Only, under Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt, are committed to clearing the tunnels of entrenched enemy forces. Fighting within the diggings proceeds in isolated pockets and blind galleries, a condition that structures the novel’s episodic recollection of individual troopers’ earlier campaigns even as the present action unfolds underground.

Within the wider Gaunt’s Ghosts series, the Menazoid Epsilon dig sites are notable chiefly as a narrative device rather than as a strategically prominent theatre of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, and the world of Menazoid Epsilon itself receives little further elaboration beyond its association with this campaign.
