Miral

Miral is a jungle death world in the Ultima Segmentum where the Scythes of the Emperor Chapter made a final stand against Hive Fleet Kraken. A death world is a planet whose environment is hostile to human life. The site is catalogued here under the Eastern Fringe.

Hive Fleet Kraken had already consumed the world of Sotha when the Scythes of the Emperor made their stand at Giant’s Coffin on Miral. Chapter Master Thorcyra and most of the First Company died there so that a company-strength remnant of the Chapter could escape. Exterminatus, the sanctioned destruction of a world’s population, followed.

The entry concerns the Kraken war and not the Miral System associated with the Tempestus. The engagement is recorded as the occasion on which the Scythes of the Emperor lost their Chapter Master and most of their First Company.
