Nemeton

Nemeton is a planet of Segmentum Obscurus, held as the home world of the Emperor’s Spears, within the region known as Elara’s Veil. It is not recorded as a major hive world or forge world in its own right; its significance to the wider Imperium lies chiefly in its bond with the Chapter that calls it home, rather than in any strategic or economic weight of its own.

As a Chapter home world, Nemeton serves the Emperor’s Spears as fortress and recruiting ground, the place from which its aspirants are drawn and to which its companies return between campaigns. The Chapter’s name and iconography are bound up with the spear as both weapon and emblem, a tradition accounts link to Nemeton’s own martial culture, though the finer points of that culture, and the manner in which the world’s people are tested or inducted into the Chapter’s ranks, are not fully set down in any one record.

Beyond its tie to the Emperor’s Spears, little else about Nemeton is firmly attested. Its exact standing relative to neighbouring systems within Elara’s Veil, and any campaigns fought over or from it, are not clearly recorded; where sources are silent, it is more honest to note the gap than to fill it.
