Phobos

Phobos is the inner moon of Mars and serves as an orbital fortress whose gun batteries cover the planet. Beneath those batteries lie vaults holding forbidden relics of the Mechanicum.

The vaults open only on the word of the Fabricator-General. Loyalist Skitarii fought for control of them during the Schism of Mars. The Ork Kubik later used Ork teleportation equipment to move the moon across Martian orbit.

Phobos combines a defensive function with the custody of restricted Mechanicum material. Authority over access to the vaults rests with the Fabricator-General. The moon has also been the object of an Ork technological intervention that altered its position in Martian orbit.
