Photep

Photep was a starship of the Thousand Sons Legion, attested in chronicles of the Horus Heresy and associated with the Legion’s fleet centred on Prospero. It is named, in keeping with the Thousand Sons’ established convention of drawing Legion nomenclature from the mythology and history of ancient Terran Egypt, after a figure or term drawn from that tradition.

As with much of the Thousand Sons battle fleet, the vessel’s operational history is recorded chiefly through the Legion’s own chronicles and through wider accounts of the Horus Heresy, rather than through detailed Imperial registries. Its precise classification and complement are not consistently attested, and it is best understood as one of a number of Legion vessels operating in support of the Thousand Sons’ campaigns during this period.

The ship’s later fate, and any role it may have played following the Space Wolves’ destruction of Prospero and the Thousand Sons’ subsequent withdrawal into the Eye of Terror, remain unconfirmed in available sources. It is recorded principally as a name associated with the Legion’s Horus Heresy–era fleet rather than as a vessel with a fully documented service history.
