Port Maw System

The Port Maw System is the Gothic Sector’s naval capital, centred on a hollow artificial planetoid named for its five-hundred-kilometre aperture. The entry refers to this station, not to a hive world, and the station is catalogued under the Port Maw Sub-sector.

The 60th Expedition discovered the planetoid in the Coronid Deeps, and Terra subsequently ordered a northern fleet fortress to be built inside it. During the Horus Heresy, traitor officers turned the station’s panopticon against loyalists who were assembling there. In the Gothic War, the station remained impregnable behind its mines and forts. Chaos forces blockaded it rather than assaulting the aperture.

The Port Maw System remains significant as the Gothic Navy’s ‘mouth’, a designation drawn from the aperture. The station is an artificial construction and is not to be treated as a natural planet.
