Sautekh

The Sautekh Dynasty is a Necron dynasty of the Ultima Segmentum, ruled by the Phaeron Imotekh the Stormlord from its tomb world of Sautekh. Like other Necron dynasties that stirred following the fall of the old empire and the exile of the Silent King, Sautekh re-emerged from millennia of dormancy to reclaim its dominion, guided by a stratified nobility of Overlords, Cryptek adepts, and Royal Court retainers bound to Imotekh’s rule. Its name marks both the dynasty and the tomb world from which it rose, one of many buried necropolises scattered across the segmentum awaiting the signal to awaken.

Imotekh’s dynasty is remembered chiefly for the manner of its return: rather than risk detection during the fragile early stages of reawakening, the Phaeron is recorded as having engineered a sector-wide warp storm by exploiting a captured Ork teleport homer, blinding Imperial augurs and void traffic across the region and allowing Sautekh and several neighbouring dynasties to complete their awakening undetected. The stratagem, still cited as evidence of Imotekh’s cunning, distinguishes him among Necron overlords more inclined to brute conquest or rigid ritual, and it drew Sautekh forces into direct conflict with both the Imperium and the Ork clans whose war fleets had unwittingly triggered the storm.

Sautekh’s fortunes are bound to those of the wider Necron awakening across the Ultima Segmentum, placing the dynasty alongside contemporaries such as the Novokh, known for unrestrained aggression, and the Nihilakh, who hold to older codes of conduct; interactions among these dynasties range from wary cooperation to renewed dynastic rivalry as each reclaims lost territory. In the present era Sautekh continues to campaign under Imotekh’s command, its forces contesting worlds within its former domain against Imperial, Ork, and rival xenos incursions alike, a resurgent power whose long-term ambitions remain as opaque as the tomb worlds from which it emerged.
