Savaven

Savaven was a cardinal world in the Quinrox Sound, destroyed by Abaddon’s Planet Killer at the opening of the Gothic War. Its population numbered fourteen billion, and a secret Inquisitorial vault lay beneath its cathedral.

In 555.M38, the Battle Sisters of the Valorous Heart broke a cult on the world. The vault beneath the cathedral was the place where Horst had been cataloguing the Eye of Night and the Hand of Darkness. When the Gothic War opened, the Planet Killer destroyed Savaven, and the vault was lost together with the planet’s population.

Savaven’s destruction removed a densely populated cardinal world of the Quinrox Sound at the outset of the war. Accounts differ on one point: a later audio drama depicts an intact crypt holding Horst’s soul, which contradicts the account in which the world is reduced to an asteroid field. This entry follows the latter account and marks Savaven as a destroyed cardinal world.
