Shenlong

Shenlong was a forge world in the Ultima Segmentum, its system and coordinates unrecorded, now a dead world without population after Exterminatus.

It had been a forge world since the Dark Age of Technology, and its people worshipped a dragon-god until the Emperor forced the world into compliance during the Great Crusade; among those killed then was the maker of Lantern, later the sidearm of the primarch Mortarion.

In late M41 the Word Bearers captured Shenlong, and the Blood Angels then freed it, but Inquisitor Ramius Stele manipulated them into treating the Blood Angel Arkio as Sanguinius reborn; the population renounced the Emperor and rallied to Arkio, who raised a force called the Warriors of the Reborn from a thousand Shenlongi. Arkio and Stele were later killed on Sabien, and the Shenlongi then returned to the Word Bearers; Chief Librarian Mephiston judged them too tainted by Chaos and ordered Exterminatus, and is not recorded as having fought on Shenlong’s surface. One spelling of the world’s name in the same affair is Shenglong.
