Sparshad Mons

Sparshad Mons is a mountain massif on the hive world of Verghast, upon whose slopes the hive city of Vervunhive was founded. The Mons forms part of the mineral-rich highlands from which much of Verghast’s hive economy historically drew its ore, and its name persists in the topography and civic identity of the hive built upon it.

Rivalry over the resources of the Mons and its surrounding highlands contributed to longstanding enmity between Vervunhive and the neighbouring hive of Ferrozoica, tensions that were exploited by Chaos-aligned forces during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. The resulting Zoican uprising and siege of Vervunhive, chronicled in Dan Abnett’s novel Necropolis, drew in Imperial Guard formations including the Tanith First-and-Only.

Sparshad Mons itself is not extensively described in its own right beyond its association with Vervunhive’s founding and the mineral wealth of the region. It is attested chiefly as a geographic and etymological reference point within Verghast’s hive-world topography, rather than as a discrete theatre of battle.
