St. Josmane’s Hope

St. Josmane’s Hope was the penal world of the Cadian System, a continent-sized military prison rather than a fortress-kasr. A kasr is a Cadian fortress; the world served as a place of confinement and was not organised as a defensive stronghold of that kind.

Early in the 13th Black Crusade, prison riots on the world placed it in the hands of Chaos. Creed then ordered Strike Force Herald to overload its generatoria, the installations that supplied its power. The order was intended to prevent the world from becoming a staging world, that is, a base from which Chaos forces could assemble and launch further operations.

The world was lost before Cadia itself fell. Its fate records a decision by the Cadian command to deny an enemy-held world to Chaos by destroying its power infrastructure, instead of attempting to recover it.
