Thramas
Thramas was a war-torn region of the Eastern Fringe that gave its name to the Thramas Crusade. During the Horus Heresy, this protracted campaign pitted the Dark Angels Legion and elements of the Imperial forces loyal to the Emperor against Konrad Curze’s Night Lords Legion, following the latter’s turn to the forces of the Warmaster Horus.
The crusade fought across Thramas is remembered for its brutal, drawn-out character, marked by attritional void engagements and ground campaigns waged across numerous worlds and systems within the region rather than a single decisive confrontation. The theatre drew away significant Dark Angels strength at a critical juncture of the wider civil war, a circumstance later scrutinised by Imperial historians assessing the Legion’s absence from other pivotal engagements of the period.
Thramas holds particular significance in the enmity between the Dark Angels and the Night Lords, a rivalry rooted in the crusade’s culmination in the confrontation between Lion El’Jonson and Konrad Curze. The region’s precise extent and constituent systems remain imprecisely catalogued in surviving Imperial records, its name persisting chiefly through association with the crusade fought there.
