Urbitane

Urbitane is a city on Sameter, in the Gudrun System, noted for an investigation into the murders of missing-in-action war veterans. The killings drew the attention of officers of the Imperial Inquisition, whose enquiries into the pattern of deaths formed part of a wider investigation into conspiracy within the sector.

The victims were, in each recorded instance, former servicemen whose status had at one time been listed as missing in action, only for them to resurface within Urbitane’s population before being murdered in turn. The circumstances suggested to investigating authorities that the killings were not the work of a common criminal but of an agency seeking to silence witnesses or erase evidence connected to an earlier campaign, a suspicion that drew an Inquisitorial agent to the city to pursue the matter directly.

Beyond this episode, Urbitane is not otherwise prominent in Imperial record, and it is chiefly remembered as the location in which the investigation was conducted rather than for any distinguishing feature of its own civic character or administration.
