Valos

Valos is a barren dead world on the Eastern Fringe, south-east of Ultramar, devastated in the Horus Heresy and again by Hive Fleet Behemoth in late M41. Two separate catastrophes account for its present condition.

During the Horus Heresy, atomic bombardment boiled away the oceans of Valos. Legio Astorum and Legio Fureans, two Titan legions (formations of giant war machines), continued to fight one another amid the resulting steam. In late M41, Hive Fleet Behemoth, a Tyranid swarm, consumed what remained of the planet. Valos was the first world the swarm overran before it reached Tyran, after which it acquired the name Behemoth.

No living Imperial Guard recruiting culture survives on Valos, so the world supplies no regiments. Its standing rests on its history as a site where both Titan legions and Tyranids operated.
