Voltemand

Voltemand is a civilised Sabbat world, captured at an early stage because it opened a road into the heart of the sector. Its value lay in that access rather than in the world alone.

Tanith sappers breached Voltis City, which allowed Sturm’s Volpone to storm it. Sturm subsequently shelled the Ghosts at Pavis Crossroads, having been outperformed by them.

The official histories of the campaign credit the Bluebloods with the capture of Voltis City. That attribution differs from the sequence of events above, in which the Tanith sappers made the assault possible. Voltemand’s standing therefore rests on its strategic position as an early conquest and on this divergence between the official record and the account of the fighting.
