Xana II

Xana II is a forge world of the Adeptus Mechanicus, known chiefly for its part in the Horus Heresy-era schism of Mars. It lies within the Xana system; no canonical galactic coordinates for the system are attested, and its position on the wider Imperial map is not fixed in surviving record. Like other forge worlds of the era, its populace was organised around the tech-priesthood’s hierarchies of magi and skitarii rather than a conventional planetary government, its industry bound by oath and doctrine to the Cult Mechanicus on Mars.

Xana II’s standing in the wider narrative of the Horus Heresy derives from the Schism of Mars, the fracture within the Cult Mechanicus that followed Fabricator-General Kelbor-Hal’s secret pact with the Warmaster Horus. As the forge worlds of the Mechanicum divided between those loyal to the Emperor and those drawn into rebellion, Xana II is recorded among the worlds whose priesthood turned against Terra, its magi and forges given over to the war effort of the Traitor legions. In this it shared the fate of Mars itself, its manufactories and knowledge-cults repurposed in service of the conflict rather than the Imperium that had sustained them.
