Yssimae

Yssimae was a primitive human world on the fringes of the Imperium, its location never charted with any precision, known chiefly for the brief and calamitous visit paid to it by Lorgar Aurelian during the final stretch of the Horus Heresy. Cast out by Horus at Ullanor after his attempted coup against the Warmaster failed, Lorgar withdrew into the wilder reaches of the galaxy with a remnant of the Word Bearers still loyal to him. The tribal population of Yssimae received the arriving warriors as emissaries of divine powers, and for a time the two peoples laboured side by side, raising stone circles and blood-marked altars through which Lorgar’s acolytes sought to scry the distant war for Terra. Communion with Erebus, re-established through these rites, brought word of Sanguinius’s death above the Imperial Palace and of grim portents heralding the Emperor’s own end. Shaken by these tidings, Lorgar ordered his fleet to make ready for departure, and before withdrawing had Yssimae put to the torch, its people and shrines consumed so that no trace of the rituals performed there might remain.
