13th Black Crusade / Battle of the Agripinaa System
The Battle of the Agripinaa System, fought during the 13th Black Crusade, was a Chaos assault on the Cadian Gate forge world of Agripinaa. Agripinaa is the principal forge world of the Cadian Gate and is known as the Orb of a Thousand Scars. A forge world is a planet given over to the manufacture of weapons and war materiel. Agripinaa lies close to the Eye of Terror, the region of Chaos-dominated space from which such attacks are launched. Its position is near enough that the Warpsmiths, the artificers of the Traitor Legions, regard it as a shop window. For millennia the forge supplied arms to Cadia, and three agri-worlds, which are worlds devoted to agriculture, exist to supply its furnaces. The surviving record does not describe the course of the engagement in detail. Agripinaa has been exposed to repeated assault by Chaos forces, and the World Eaters, the Death Guard and the Iron Warriors have each attacked it. After the fall of the Cadian Gate, the world received Cadian refugees, who were used as raw material for its production. It remains the principal forge of the Cadian Gate.
