3rd Black Crusade

The Third Black Crusade, also known as the Host of Tallomin and the Desecration of Gerstahl, took place in 909.M32. To cover the destruction of Saint Gerstahl’s remains on the shrine world Gerstahl, Abaddon attacked Cadia and unleashed the daemon prince Tallomin. Tallomin and his daemons killed many millions of Imperial soldiers on Cadia and drew in about a dozen Space Marine Chapters to oppose them. The Space Wolves eventually drove Tallomin back into the warp. By the time Tallomin was driven back, Abaddon had already destroyed Saint Gerstahl’s remains on their shrine world, forestalling a prophecy attached to them. The crusade’s result was recorded as a tactical defeat for Chaos on Cadia, yet also as the achievement of Abaddon’s strategic objective at Gerstahl. Both verdicts were recorded, and neither was given precedence over the other.
