7th Black Crusade / Battle of Mackan

The Seventh Black Crusade, the Ghost War, took place in 811.M37, when Chaos fleets passed Cadia and vanished before raiding and returning to the Eye. At Mackan, the whole Blood Angels Chapter, together with the Rampagers, fought Abaddon’s Black Legion and was nearly destroyed; Abaddon killed Captain Acrion in single combat, a duel likened to that of Horus and Sanguinius. Telemachon Lyras and Iskandar Khayon served as Abaddon’s lieutenants in the battle. Lheorvine Ukris was killed there; Telemachon was not. The Black Legion went on to ruin the gene-seed of the Blood Angels, sparing only that held by the Death Company. Weeks later Reclusiarch Thalastian Jorus led the Death Company against the honour guard. They killed many of that guard and were themselves struck down, Jorus among them. Their corpses were left on thrones of traitor armour. The Black Legion then departed, and the crusade’s end is recorded as a withdrawal by Chaos forces. Abaddon later made use of the ruined Blood Angels gene-seed, together with Fabius Bile, to create new Space Marines of his own.
